2009 Summer Job Opportunities

Employment Dates: Approx. Memorial Day to Labor Day. Weekends only until mid June then daily

Activities:
The Activities staff is responsible for the preparation and coordination of recreational activities and arts & crafts; developing, coordinating and evaluating weekly activities. The Activities staff will interact with adults and children in all activities. They are responsible for set-up and clean–up of the activities area and are responsible for maintaining all supplies and equipment. Salary Range: $9.25 - $12.00 DOE

Maintenance:
Seasonal maintenance staff assists full-time maintenance personnel in all aspects of facility and grounds maintenance, perform a variety of minor repairs, and perform a variety of technical tasks. General duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: Clean up around facility, empty and haul trash, keep pathways clear of leaves and pine needles, paint, wash tennis courts, enforce all facility rules, test pools and spas, uncover/cover pools and spas, assist front desk staff if needed. Entry Desk:
Entry Desk staff greets and checks in our homeowners and guests. Other duties include, but are not limited to: handling incoming calls, scheduling massage appointments and swim lessons, signing up activity participants, stocking/selling towels, answering a variety of questions for homeowners and guests and keeping game room and entry lobby clean/organized. Also may assist administrative staff with special projects. Salary Range: $9.25 - $12.00 DOE

Lifeguard:
Lifeguards actively monitor, survey, and control activity around pools, enforcing pool rules and facility policies. Lifeguards may respond to water related emergencies as well as accidents, injuries, or other types of emergencies affecting the Rec. Center guests; and are responsible for the general overall safety of the Rec. Center facility. Lifeguards are required to keep pool and surrounding areas clean. This position requires Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certifications. Mandatory training date: May 18th. Salary Range: $11:00 - $14.00 DOE. See detail of job description.

Swim Instructors:
Swim Instructors must have the ability to teach Red Cross levels 1 through 5. This position requires, WSI or equivalent experience, CPR and First Aid certifications. Salary Range: 80% of lesson income.

LIFEGUARD

* Must be at least 15 years of age (under 18 requires a work permit)
* Full and part time positions are available
* Pay Range: $10.00 - $13.00 (DOE)
* Work Season: May (Memorial weekend) to mid September

Lifeguard Position Summary

Under the direction of the General Manager, Administrative Assistant, Pool Coordinator or other assigned supervisor, a lifeguard is responsible for the prevention of accidents in and around the Association’s aquatic facility. The lifeguard is responsible for responding to any accidents or incidents while working in the capacity of a lifeguard. Additional responsibilities include keeping all aquatic facilities clean and free of hazards, debris and trash, taking care of and keeping all equipment in proper working order, enforcing pool and clubhouse rules and regulations, doing all necessary paperwork and performing any work as requested by their direct or indirect supervisor.

Employment Standards

* Knowledge of principles and practices of life guarding, first-aid and CPR skills.
* Ability to deal clearly, effectively and pleasantly with members and guests.
* Ability to enforce Association rules and regulations.
* Ability to pass physical skill tests to Association standards.

Required Physical Skills

* Swim 500 yards continuously using each of the following strokes for at least 50 yards:
   crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke.
* Surface dive to minimum of nine feet and retrieve a 10 pound swimming brick to the side of
   the pool.
* Surface dive to a minimum of five feet and swim under water for at least fifteen yards.
* Tread water for three minutes.
* Remove and cover pool with thermal blanket.

Required Certification

* Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate or equivalent.
* Current American Red Cross CPR and First-Aid or equivalent.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Insures all needed equipment is in proper working order and in its proper place prior to
   opening and closing facility.
* Prevents accidents through the enforcement of Association policies, rules and regulations,
   governing the conduct of membership and guests at the pool and clubhouse.
* Keeps attentive lookout for accidents in the water, on the deck, on and around the diving
   board and clubhouse grounds.
* Enters the water to rescue persons in distress.
* Resuscitates rescued swimmers and administers first-aid to the injured.
* Fills out all accident or incident reports immediately, no matter how minor.
* Keeps pool area and bathrooms clean and free of hazards, debris and trash.
* Properly fills out daily/hourly required facility records and reports.
* Remains available as fill in for vacant shifts.
* Attends all training and meetings as required.
* Works as a team member to assure all responsibilities and Association goals are
  achieved.
* Whatever it takes to get the job done right.

SWIM INSTRUCTOR

* Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certificate (instructor only)
* Ability to teach Red Cross levels 1 through 5
* Ability to teach group and/or private lessons
* Schedule Memorial Day to Labor Day

GENERAL MAINTENANCE/LANDSCAPE
* Must be at least 14 years of age (under 18 requires a work permit)
* All positions are seasonal
* Pay Range: $10.50 – $ 13.50 (DOE)
* Ability to use power equipment with training
* Some knowledge of plumbing and painting helpful

General Duties and Responsibilities:
* Ability to use power mower and weed eater
* Mow and weed eat lawns
* Rake leaves and pine needles
* Power wash pool deck and bathroom mats
* Clean and maintain bathroom
* Clean and maintain tennis courts
* Clean and maintain parking lot.
* Trail maintenance
* Painting, staining
